Today, December 3, the South Carolina Department of Education will meet to discuss several items, including the recommendations from the Instructional Materials Review Committee (which include the recommendation to restrict another book, in addition to the seven which were previously banned statewide).
Is this a meeting that the community may attend? I’ve been wondering how many schools will actually use prager u material, and if there is a way to opt out if any of it finds its way to my child’s class.
No problem! I don’t know of any districts planning to use the materials, which are objectively pretty crazy, but it’s good to be on the lookout and might be worth proactively reaching out to districts to let them know how you feel about it.
